Wilma’s Comet

Mixed media (acrylic, optical fibre, LED light source)

Inspired by a commission piece (Flash Gordon) I made for a private
client in 2005.

Wilma’s Comet developed as a result of pondering the theory that a comet wiped out the Dinosaurs. I immediately went in search of dinosaurs and discovered a batch basking in a local toyshop window. I felt my mind’s eye image of an exploding orb of light was very much in the style of Comic books of 50’s-60’s vintage.

Thus when I was thinking about a title, Wilma’s (Flintstone) Comet, a childhood favourite, fitted the bill perfectly!
