Mixed media (hills hoist, UV clothes pegs, audio)
For a few years, I lived with my fiancée (now wife) Serena at Palm Beach, north of Sydney, in a house above the sea surrounded by gumtrees. Every morning, we were greeted by raucous birds, the noisiest of which were the sulphur-crested cockatoos. In Gathering of the Clans I use the sounds of cockatoos, eight iconic Hills Hoist clotheslines and fluorescent acrylics that glow when exposed to UV light. Each bird species is represented in colour-coded arrays of clothes-pegs – a gathering of psychedelic sound and colour.
