Brass Monkeys

Mixed media (acrylic, glass, optical fibre, LED light source)

Brass Monkeys reinvents a humorous childhood phrase through the lens of nautical lore and sculptural form. The installation plays around with the idea of cold weather‐related shrinkage in both sailing ships and schoolboy slang, where metal balls famously fall off. Embodied in a three‐dimensional pyramid of spheres, Brass Monkeys is where humour and geometry collide in a bold visual statement.
