Mixed media (MDF, coloured Formica)
The development of the C-Scales 2D artworks was built as I was creating a film, recorded over a period of thousands of years. During the development of these filmic episodes (which effectively distil and deconstruct film into a series of light dots or pixels) I realised I had circled round to my Time and Place concept, which took my original 35m slides, reducing them into abstracted forms of pixelated light and colour. I then began to explore further how each of the filmic moments could themselves, be captured and visualised. This resulted in series of wall based artworks recreating snapshots of the light sequence in the form of coloured discs of varying hues and tones.
Each wall based piece is a reinterpretation of the original lighting score from the C-Scales, Sydney based animation.
Principally I am convinced that the artworks that move and inspire me do so because they communicate the essence of experience from a time and place.
