Mixed media (fluorescent light source, electric fence modules, polycarbonate tubes)
Lightning Storm continues Munro’s experimentation with re-illuminating redundant florescent tubes by pulsing current from an electric fence energizer. The first incarnation of the technique was used in Tepees at Cheekwood in Nashville, TN.
The Pacific Island Biome at Franklin Park Conservatory provided Munro with the inspiration for this iteration of the technique. Suspended above the canopy of tropical vegetation, over a hundred individual fluorescent tubes flash with intermittent pulses of light, creating a an immersive experiential storm of light accompanied by rolls of thunder.
