This site specific artwork was commissioned and acquired by Texas Tech University Lubbock, Texas, an area influenced by Spanish Arts and Culture. Viva Tree takes its name from the Spanish for live or life and expresses the new beginnings of the building for which is was commissioned. The work is the artist’s salutation to the future of all who pass through.
Establishing Munro’s method of working on a large scale and continuing his interest in Light and Language, each of Viva Tree’s 320 acrylic rods are etched with words Vision and Honor pertinent to the University moto.
